Rugs will enhance your room, organize your space, absorb sounds and cushion falls. They offer good resale value as well as excellent price and quality. Before you buy an area rug, there is some important technical information one must consider:
Fibre Comparisons
Fibre is turned into yarn during the manufacturing process and that yarn is then used to construct the area rug. There are a number of fibres to choose from:
Nylon: The most popular carpet fibre because of its exceptional durability, versatility and pricing.
Polyester: This fibre is soft to the touch but tends to lack bounce so it is used mostly for residential applications in low traffic areas.
Olefin (Polypropylene): This fibre is naturally stain/fade resistant. It is favourably priced for both indoor and outdoor applications and resists static electricity. However, due to its relatively low resistance, use should be restricted to low-traffic areas.
Wool: Wool is a natural fibre with moderate soil and stain resistance. It is a more costly application but provides a beautiful appearance.
How do I decide on colour and style?
- Take into account your decor and its colours. Decide which colours your area rug should complement;
- Choose a durable, high-quality and attractive rug for long-term satisfaction;
- Always keep "value" in mind and whether the rug is priced for your budget.
