Cork has design versatility, durability and environmental integrity, making it a growing choice among designers. Its wear layer resists scuffs, stain, spills and indentations. Advantages of cork flooring include also antistatic, hygienic, durability, comfort, slip-resistant, hypoallergenic and very easy to maintain.

What do I need to know before buying?

  • Cork is a natural product similar to wood, but unlike wood, it will not scratch or rot and it can be compressed.
  • Cork is suited to kitchens, family rooms, bedrooms (particularly for allergy and asthma sufferers), bathrooms, washrooms, laundries, dining rooms, reception areas, foyers, bars and halls.
  • Cork tiles are a natural product so colour variation will occur. Check tiles carefully before purchasing.
  • As a natural product, cork has a detectable odour (most people consider it pleasant). If you are sensitive to odours, order a sample before purchasing.
  • Cork tiles will eventually fade with exposure to U.V.
  • Cork is resistant to moisture in doorways as long as the polyurethane surface is maintained. However, this flooring should not be used outside.

How do I decide on colour and style?

  • Coloured cork is now extremely versatile and offers endless possibilities, allowing you to design a floor with a dramatically different look and retain all the benefits of a cork floor.
  • Styles range from wide grain to the more traditional three-strip look with veneers that include teak, mahogany, cherry, oak and maple enabling cork to resemble everything from bamboo to burled wood.
